The new UI, as seen in the Reddit post, seems to move the PSN Store, media, and PS Plus management menu to a new upper area of the dashboard. Players can swap between these parts of the OS using R1 and L1.

©Reddit / Kotaku

Another person on Twitter shared a different photo of the new UI currently rolling out to some PS5 beta testers, so it seems very likely that this is a real test and not some weird hoax. Sony has yet to confirm a new home layout is in the works for PS5 owners, but considering how finished this looks, I’d expect this to arrive for all players in a not-too-distant system update.

Kotaku has contacted Sony about the leaked beta UI.

yes, it’s real pic.twitter.com/h41zWYxDIq

— ✧ ･ ліквідмуркі ･ ⊹ ₊ ⑅ * ✶ (@liquidmurky) April 7, 2026

I think this new layout is a smart change! I liked Sony’s last big shake-up of the PS5 home screen, adding useful pins and a startup submenu. It’s one of those changes that I barely think about now, yet has been useful to have around. I think it might take a few weeks for my muscle memory to adapt to this new update, assuming it arrives like this on PS5. But I don’t mind. This new shift to moving those icons and apps to the top of the home menu and having them be easily flipped through using L1/R1 seems very smart, and honestly, I’m not sure why it hasn’t been like this for years now.

A new PlayStation 5 home menu layout is seemingly being tested by Sony, and it looks pretty dang…

[31
2211,1015,1014,74,7157
0":"post-570682","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-technology","8":"tag-playstation","9":"tag-ps5","10":"tag-sony","11":"tag-technology","12":"tag-update
["GET
