With The Masters set to begin on Thursday morning, how does Augusta National feel about the President of the United States? President Trump, 79, plays more golf<\/a> than any U.S. President in history. Could he one day land an official membership at the iconic golf club?<\/p>\n

It doesn’t sound like it.<\/p>\n

President Trump’s “personality” is deemed unfit for the prestigious golf course in Augusta, Georgia.<\/p>\n

“I think you can answer that yourself – because he’s Trump,” Butch Harmon said about President Trump’s potential membership.<\/p>\n

He continued, “I think he is who he is. He’s full of himself. He’s the type of person that I don’t think fits the profile of an Augusta member.<\/p>\n

“I’ve known him most of my whole life, because his father was a member of Winged Foot [Harmon’s father, Claude, was the head professional], so I’ve known Donald pretty much my whole life.”<\/p>\n

“What you see is what you get with him. And I don’t think his personality fits the membership at Augusta.”<\/p>\n

It’s not about politics, either.<\/p>\n

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are members.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think that (being president) has anything to do with it, because there’s been a lot of other presidents who played golf, and they’re not members.<\/p>\n

“Clinton, Obama, they played golf. I think it’s just his personality doesn’t mix with that particular club. That’s as politically correct as I can be.”<\/p>\n

Golf fans react to Augusta National’s likely stance<\/p>\n

Golf fans, who have accused President Trump of cheating on the course<\/a> and behaving improperly, appear to be happy with the news.<\/p>\n

“They don’t allow cheaters,” one fan wrote.<\/p>\n

“Why would you want a cheater on your course that drives on the greens because they are so lazy?” one fan added.<\/p>\n

“He shouldn\u2019t be allowed anywhere near the hallowed grounds of Augusta national,” one fan added.<\/p>\n

“Do they allow cheaters?” another fan joked.<\/p>\n

The first round of The Masters, meanwhile, is set to begin on Thursday morning, airing live on ESPN.<\/p>\n
