In fact, when Matthew had to gain weight for his 2016 thriller Gold, he found that putting on pounds without adding muscle mass was rather challenging.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I haven&#8217;t ever done that,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/822634\/matthew-mcconaughey-s-47-pound-weight-gain-turns-him-into-captain-fun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told E! News in 2017<\/a>. \u201cI said, &#8216;McConaughey, you have six months to say yes to whatever you want to eat and whatever you want to drink. Whenever.&#8217; That was fun. The only thing that gets tiring is the thought of quitting.
