Stephen Colbert has reportedly already secured his next gig following the\u00a0recent cancellation of\u00a0\u201cThe Late Show.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The comedian, 61, is staying put in the world of late-night after signing on as a guest star in the CBS series\u00a0\u201cElsbeth,\u201d Vulture<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Colbert will portray a late-night talk show host in the comedy series, which made its debut last summer.<\/p>\n

He will play the host of the fictional show, \u201cWay Late with Scotty Bristol,\u201d in the network\u2019s spin-off of the hit series, \u201cThe Good Wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

Production had commenced last week in NYC, and according to the outlet, the episode was \u201calmost surely planned\u201d before news that his format was axed by CBS<\/a> came to light.<\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s new TV gig comes months after \u201cElsbeth\u201d star Wendell Pierce appeared on the \u201cLate Show\u201d<\/a> in February, during which Colbert mentioned that he wanted to appear on the series.<\/p>\n

In response, Pierce said that he could potentially \u201cmake that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post has reached out to CBS and Colbert\u2019s reps for comment.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we start the show, I want to let you know something that I found out just last night: Next year will be our last season,\u201d he told the crowd. \u201cThe network will be ending\u00a0\u2018The Late Show\u2019\u00a0in May.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news was met with loud boos from the audience.<\/p>\n

The network has publicly cited financial reasons behind the decision to cancel the show.<\/p>\n
