\n International backlash is mounting over Israel\u2019s massive strikes across Lebanon Wednesday, which killed 182 people and wounded 890 others<\/a>, and threatened to upend the uneasy ceasefire between the US, Israel and Iran.\n <\/p>\n

\n Pakistan, which condemned <\/a>the attack, has maintained that Lebanon is included in the ceasefire deal it helped broker between the US, Israel and Iran. However, the Trump administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have said the truce does not apply to operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.\n <\/p>\n

\n France\u2019s President Emmanuel Macron condemned<\/a> what he described as \u201cindiscriminate\u201d strikes by Israel on Lebanon, which he said \u201cpose a direct threat to the sustainability of the ceasefire.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said Israel\u2019s attacks on Lebanon were \u201cdeeply damaging\u201d and Britain wants to \u201csee Lebanon included in the ceasefire\u201d in an interview with Times Radio on Thursday, according to Reuters.\n <\/p>\n

\n Spain\u2019s Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s \u201ccontempt for life and international law is intolerable.\u201d He also called for Lebanon to be included in the ceasefire.\n <\/p>\n

\n Italy\u2019s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he called Lebanon\u2019s President Joseph Aoun to express solidarity for the \u201cunjustified and unacceptable attacks.\u201d Tajani said he summoned the Israeli ambassador, adding: \u201cWe want to avoid there being a second Gaza.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The Italian embassy in Beirut said \u201chitting densely populated areas and sowing death among civilians\u201d is a violation of \u201cevery principle of international humanitarian law.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Qatar\u2019s foreign ministry condemned the \u201cheinous\u201d strikes and called on the international community to compel Israel to \u201chalt their brutal massacres.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Turkey\u2019s foreign ministry denounced the strikes \u201cin the strongest terms\u201d and accused Netanyahu\u2019s government of undermining \u201cinternational efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Criticism has also poured in from the United Nations and NGOs.\n <\/p>\n

\n The United Nations Secretary General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres \u201cunequivocally\u201d condemned the strikes and called for an end to the hostilities, which he said \u201cpose a grave risk to the ceasefire,\u201d in a statement from a spokesperson Wednesday.\n <\/p>\n

\n The International Committee of the Red Cross said it was \u201coutraged\u201d by the death and destruction in densely populated areas across Lebanon.\n <\/p>\n
