(WIS) &#8211; At Owens Fisher Construction in Lexington, a road sign out front might make visitors wonder if they\u2019re in the Sahara Desert instead of South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But down the path, owner Clifford Fisher\u2019s newest pet makes it all clear. This is the second camel Clifford has owned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cStill don\u2019t really know what to do with a camel, but love \u2018em,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<p>Bonding with a camel<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fisher said the most important process in breaking in a camel is getting the animal to bond with its owner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAfter that, it\u2019s fairly easy. As you can tell, he wants to follow me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fisher first followed what he said was a divine calling 29 years ago to buy his first camel, Abraham, for his church\u2019s Christmas program.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Abraham the 1st at Lake Murray Baptist's annual &quot;Jesus Is His Name&quot; Christmas show.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/L662763QKBELDFTNOTKTMU7ODI.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Abraham the 1st at Lake Murray Baptist&#8217;s annual &#8220;Jesus Is His Name&#8221; Christmas show.(WIS News 10)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe show went on twenty-some years at Lake Murray Baptist, and now it\u2019s at the horse arena in South Congaree every Christmas,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<p>A fixture at the nativity scene<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Abraham became a fixture at the nativity scene for years, touching hearts in the process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAbraham was 1800 pounds, and I had people send me letters that said, \u2018If he can bow to baby Jesus, I will too,\u2019\u201d Fisher said. \u201cLike I told the preacher, Abraham saved a lot of people and never said a word, so it\u2019s kinda funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Abraham also had a thirst for Mountain Dew. WIS Sports Director Rick Henry found that out at a Lexington County Blowfish baseball game a few years back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAbraham the camel challenged me to a Mountain Dew chugging contest. You know I love my Mountain Dew. But I\u2019m no match for Abraham,\u201d Henry said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"WIS Sports Director Rick Henry and Abraham the 1st partake in a Mountain Dew drinking contest.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/BS6ZEKCIXBFFDAZEE37UW2TBDE.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>WIS Sports Director Rick Henry and Abraham the 1st partake in a Mountain Dew drinking contest.(WIS News 10)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Abraham brought faith and fun wherever he roamed for nearly three decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI did not realize until he did pass away the influence that he had on the community and how many people loved him,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<p>Finding Abraham 2.0<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Abraham passed away last year. After all those years together, Fisher entered a period of grief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt was an interesting venture. I wasn\u2019t sure if I wanted another camel. I mourned a lot over Abraham,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fisher\u2019s wife and daughter started searching online for another camel and found one in Illinois.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe guy did not want to sell him to me because he\u2019s so rare. And he did the history of Abraham the 1st and said it would be a privilege to send him to South Carolina,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Upon meeting the camel, Fisher knew it was a match.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis is Abraham 2.0. The angels brought him to me, so that\u2019s why he\u2019s white. Very rare camel, very few are ever born white,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The new Abraham is fitting in with Fisher\u2019s other animals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cHe really likes Jackson for some reason. They like each other.
