{"id":574901,"date":"2026-04-10T00:27:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T00:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/574901\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T00:27:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T00:27:13","slug":"with-crane-coming-down-atls-tallest-new-tower-in-forever-is-finished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/574901\/","title":{"rendered":"With crane coming down, ATL&#8217;s tallest new tower in forever is finished"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost three years after its official <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/post\/midtown-development-crane-tallest-high-rise-decades-images\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">groundbreaking<\/a>, the tallest new building in Atlanta since the early 1990s has reached every inch of its ultimate height.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New York City-based developer Rockefeller Group is wrapping up exterior work on the highest floors of 1072 West Peachtree, a 60-story mixed-use tower that\u2019s claimed a prominent place on Midtown\u2019s skyline from vantage points across the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Midtown Alliance, work to dismantle 1072 West Peachtree\u2019s crane\u2014a fixture over Midtown since 2023, and one of the subdistrict\u2019s last active cranes right now\u2014began this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Disassembly work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MidtownATL\/posts\/pfbid0m9JfDqwYVrsgSsUY3G2xp9fPPmMf5tM2SLCXZ5u7FWPfJTjSfhhe3xMoUhZ9vimil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">will continue<\/a> until Wednesday afternoon, with lane closures now underway. (The entirety of West Peachtree Street between 11th and 12th streets will be closed between April 10 and 15 to allow for crane removal, with northbound traffic diverted onto 11th Street around the tower\u2019s block, per Midtown Alliance.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We checked with Rockefeller reps this week to ensure that no more significant changes are planned to 1072 West Peachtree\u2019s rooftop, now that the crane is being taken down, but had yet to hear back as of press time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2026-04\/1072%20W.%20Peachtree%201072%20West%20Peachtree%20April%202026%201.jpg?itok=GHMByitM\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"Josh Green\/Urbanize Atlanta \" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1072 W. Josh Green\/Urbanize Atlanta <\/p>\n<p>John Petricola, Rockefeller\u2019s Southeast senior managing director, told Urbanize Atlanta following the tower\u2019s formal topping-out in November that a parapet atop the project is meant to mask a two-story mechanical room for elevators on the roof.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>How that component of the building is lighted at night is \u201cgoing to be a big kind of reveal,\u201d Petricola said at the time. \u201c[W]e want to make sure [the building is] lit appropriately and a part of the skyline.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The residential portion of the Rockefeller tower, dubbed Alina Atlanta, is slated to start leasing this spring. Rent prices have yet to be revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 749-foot-tall tower will count room for hundreds of new Midtown residents in 357 apartments, ranging from studios up to three-bedroom options in a unique pinwheel floorplan layout.
