Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever<\/a> had a disappointing end to the 2025 WNBA<\/a> season. After finishing the regular season with a 24-20 record, the Fever secured the No. 6 seed in the playoffs before upsetting the No. 3 seed Atlanta Dream in the first round. But their season ended in the semifinals after falling to the No. 2 seed Las Vegas Aces<\/a> in five games. And Indiana made that run without Caitlin Clark<\/a>, who was sidelined with an injury.<\/p>\n

Now, the Fever have begun preparations for the 2026 WNBA season. And with free agency officially opening on Saturday, Indiana has work to do with just three players under contract, including Clark, Aliyah Boston<\/a> and Mikayla Timpson. They have already extended qualifying offers to guards Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull, and it appears they will re-sign another role player from last year’s squad.<\/p>\n

Damiris Dantas began her WNBA career in 2014 after being selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the No. 12 pick in the first round of the 2012 WNBA Draft. The Brazilian forward spent her first eight seasons between the Lynx and Atlanta Dream, but she missed the entire 2016 season after being suspended by the Dream for not reporting to training camp, choosing to train with the Brazil National Team instead.<\/p>\n

But ahead of the 2024 season, Dantas signed a two-year, $197,100 deal with the Fever. And over the last two seasons in Indiana, she carved out a role off the bench, averaging 4.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 11.2 minutes per game while appearing in 58 games, all without a start. Following the 2025 season, Dantas\u2019 contract expired, making her an unrestricted free agent.<\/p>\n

However, on Thursday, it was revealed that the Fever plan to re-sign Dantas for the 2026 season, with an official announcement expected once free agency opens.<\/p>\n

“Damiris Dantas is set to re-sign with the Indiana Fever, a source tells me. Announcement to come this weekend,” Forbes’ Roberta Rodrigues wrote on X. “Important note: contracts can only be signed starting Saturday, April 11, therefore commitments up until now are only verbal.”<\/p>\n

The Fever open the 2026 season on May 9, hosting Paige Bueckers<\/a> and the Dallas Wings.<\/p>\n
