{"id":575594,"date":"2026-04-10T09:03:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T09:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/575594\/"},"modified":"2026-04-10T09:03:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T09:03:13","slug":"carecloud-data-breach-puts-45000-health-records-at-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/575594\/","title":{"rendered":"CareCloud data breach puts 45,000 health records at risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost 50,000 people might be concerned about their healthcare records being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/business\/article\/what-is-conduent-21145249.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">exposed to the internet<\/a> after hackers infiltrated a massive healthcare online storage system. <a href=\"https:\/\/carecloud.com\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">CareCloud<\/a>, the New Jersey headquartered healthcare information technology company, recently confirmed it was the victims of an hours-long data breach by hackers last month.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1582982\/000149315226013239\/form8-k.htm\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission<\/a> (SEC) on March 24, CareCloud confirmed it experienced a &#8220;temporary network disruption in its Carecloud Health division&#8221; on March 16. During the disruption, hackers had eight hours of access to 1 of the 6 environments the company uses to store electronic health records. CareCloud reported the incident to its cybersecurity carrier to restore the network and investigate the incident.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Company further believes that the incident was contained to the CareCloud Health environment and did not affect the Company&#8217;s other platforms, divisions, systems, data or environments,&#8221; the company wrote in its letter. &#8220;The incident was contained on the day it was discovered. &#8230; The Company further believes that the incident was caused by an unauthorized third party who temporarily had access to the system. The Company has reported the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The letter does not specify how many customer healthcare records were exposed in the data breach. CareCloud provides\u00a0healthcare technology to more than 45,000 providers, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/03\/31\/carecloud-breach-hackers-accessed-patients-medical-records-ehr\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">TechCrunch reports<\/a>.
