With one hole to play in the second round of the Masters on Friday, Bryson DeChambeau appeared to be in good shape to make the cut. Then it all fell apart.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau, who was among the favorites entering the event, only needed a bogey on No. 18 to make the cut. Instead, he shot a triple bogey, going from 3 over to below the 4-over cut line in one fell swoop. DeChambeau finished with a 2-over-par 74 on Friday and was 6 over for the tournament, which he left before reporters could request to speak with him.<\/p>\n

Defending Masters champion Rory McIlroy enters the weekend at the head of the field, which has now been trimmed to 54. McIlroy shot a 7-under 65 on Friday and sits at 12 under for the tournament, six strokes clear of Patrick Reed and Sam Burns, who are tied for second. It\u2019s the largest 36-hole lead<\/a> in Masters history.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau was not the only representative of a 10-golfer LIV Golf contingent to struggle Friday, with five of them missing the cut. That group also included two-time champion Bubba Watson. The lefty, who earned green jackets in 2012 and 2014 and is one of only 18 golfers who have won the Masters multiple times, was 5 over par after his second round, missing the cut line by one stroke. Watson has been with LIV Golf since it launched in 2022.<\/p>\n

LIV\u2019s Cameron Smith (7 over), Tom McKibbin (7 over) and Carlos Ortiz (11 over) also missed the cut. Charl Schwartzel and Jon Rahm, who won the Masters in 2023, both squeaked by at 4 over, while Sergio Garcia was only one stroke better than that duo at 3 over.<\/p>\n

Tyrrell Hatton was the only LIV golfer sitting below par after two rounds, as the Englishman hit all 18 greens on the way to a 6-under 66 on Friday. He is 4 under for the tournament and tied for seventh. Another LIV golfer, Dustin Johnson, also had a solid day, shooting a 1-over 73. He\u2019s even and tied for 24th place.<\/p>\n
