(KOLO) &#8211; On April 5, 2026, at 10:49 a.m., a spot fire between Landis Circle and the eastbound Interstate 80 on ramp in Auburn was reported, according to an Auburn Police Department Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Auburn Fire Department firefighters responded, quickly contained, and extinguished it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Initially, it was believed to be caused by a blown transformer, the post said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Following an assessment of the scene, firefighters determined the fire was caused by a squirrel that came into contact with equipment on a PG&amp;E utility pole, which resulted in damage to a glass insulator, the post said. It ignited nearby vegetation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">There were no injuries reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KOLO.
