{"id":579810,"date":"2026-04-12T13:34:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T13:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/579810\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T13:34:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T13:34:08","slug":"eastbound-southern-state-parkway-reopened-after-crash-involving-state-police-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/579810\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastbound Southern State Parkway reopened after crash involving state police car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The eastbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway were reopened\u00a0Sunday morning following\u00a0a crash involving a state police vehicle near Exit 14 in Hempstead.<\/p>\n<p>About 5 a.m., state troopers were at the site of a two-car collision\u00a0near exit 15, when another car struck the troopers\u2019 marked patrol car, according to Brittany Burton, a spokesperson for the New York State Police.<\/p>\n<p>One trooper, who was\u00a0been sitting in the patrol car, and the driver of another\u00a0car sustained minor injuries, Burton said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver who struck the police car was not initially charged, Burton told Newsday.<\/p>\n<p>All eastbound traffic was rerouted at Exit 13 for\u00a0Central Avenue in Valley Stream.
