\n\tDonald Trump<\/a> has given Sydney Sweeney<\/a>\u2019s viral American Eagle<\/a> ads the thumbs-up after reports that the Euphoria actress is a GOP supporter.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe U.S. president was asked about Sweeney by a journalist as he boarded Marine One on Sunday after The Guardian newspaper reported that she registered as a Republican voter in Florida a few months before Trump returned to the White House.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump smiled and said: \u201cShe\u2019s a registered Republican? Oh. Now I love her ad! Is that right? Sydney Sweeney \u2026 You\u2019d be surprised at how many people are Republicans.\u201d He added: \u201cIf Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump warmed to his theme on Truth Social, comparing the success of Sweeney\u2019s ads to \u201cTOTAL DISASTER\u201d campaigns from Jaguar (which launched a DEI\u2011oriented rebrand in 2024) and Bud Light (which partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in 2023).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the \u2018HOTTEST\u2019 ad out there. It\u2019s for American Eagle, and the jeans are \u201cflying off the shelves.\u201d Go get \u2018em Sydney!\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tSweeney\u2019s \u201cgreat genes\/jeans\u201d American Eagle ads have been the source of wildly viral social media conversation for days, with the internet divided over the contents of the commercials. Sweeney has said next to nothing about the discourse. She appeared in public for the first time<\/a> since the uproar began on Sunday at a Los Angeles screening of Americana, which hits theaters in the U.S. on August 15.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ads were criticized for promoting eugenics, with Sweeney intoning: \u201cGenes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.\u201d The likes of rapper Doja Cat mocked the commercial.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tThe concerns over subliminal white supremacy prompted an enormous backlash in conservative circles, including from Vice President JD Vance. \u201cMy political advice to the Democrats is continue to [call] everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive a Nazi,\u201d Vance said during an episode of the Ruthless podcast.<\/p>\n

\n\tPiers Morgan, a friend of Trump, said: \u201cThe Sydney Sweeney furor perfectly epitomizes why the woke left is so bonkers. They call everyone a Nazi or white supremacist, even when she\u2019s obviously neither, and they hate women celebrating beauty & sex appeal. It\u2019s why woke is dead \u2013 we all just laugh at their idiocy now.\u201d<\/p>\n
