At one point considered the top receiving prospect in the draft, Tyson’s stock has taken a little bit of a hit due to injury concerns. At ASU, Tyson was coached by Steelers legend Hines Ward. With the team’s need at receiver, Tyson makes a lot of sense for Pittsburgh. NFL Media’s Bucky Brooks believes Tyson is one of the best prospects in the class — so much so that he named Tyson a future All-Pro, one of seven players he gave the designation to.

Another popular name linked to the Steelers, Penn State OG Vega Ioane, was also tabbed as a future All-Pro. There’s some doubt that Ioane will last to Pittsburgh’s selection at No. 21 overall, but with the team losing Isaac Seumalo in free agency, Ioane could come in and compete for the starting job with Spencer Anderson and Brock Hoffman.

Either Ioane or Tyson would be a good fit in Pittsburgh. For Tyson, staying healthy is the key. He’s never played a full college season, and a hamstring injury has prevented him from working out for teams during the pre-draft process. However, he’s holding a workout for teams on April 17, and if he looks good, his draft stock could rise. There’s no guarantee either Tyson or Ioane will last until No. 21 overall, but the Steelers could also look to trade up, given they have 12 selections in the draft, the most in the NFL.

If either player lives up to their potential All-Pro billing, it would be a coup for whatever team selects them, and there’s been a lot of buzz that it could be the Steelers. The Steelers haven’t selected a player who was named All-Pro with their first-round pick since they selected T.J. Watt in 2017.

A lot would need to break right for both Tyson and Ioane to reach that ceiling. Tyson has injury concerns, while Ioane needs to improve against smaller defenders. But our scouting report gave Ioane an 8.9 grade, just shy of a 9.0, which is All-Pro caliber. The Steelers have a number of ways they can attack the draft, but receiver and offensive line have been their most-mocked positions in the first round. There’s a very real chance that Ioane or Tyson winds up being the team’s first selection, and there’s little question that both have high ceilings.

There’s been plenty of mock drafts linking the Pittsburgh Steelers with Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson.
