Rory McIlroy revealed a “hard” message to his wife, Erica Stoll and parents. <\/p>\n
Rory McIlroy is on a winning streak at the Masters, and his wife, Erica Stoll<\/a>, has been at Augusta National cheering on the golfer during both victories. After winning back-to-back green jackets, McIlroy took a moment in his speech to thank his wife, daughter, Poppy and parents, Gerry and Rosie McIlroy.<\/a> <\/p>\n A visibly emotional McIlroy labeled his words has as the \u201chard part\u201d of his speech. McIlroy thanked Stoll and their daughter for having to \u201cput up with me at home.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the hard part,\u201d McIlroy noted<\/a> in the April 12, 2026, speech. \u201cI want to say a few thank you\u2019s to the people on my left. First and foremost, my wife and daughter, Erica and Poppy. They have to put up with me at home and, trust me, sometimes that\u2019s a tough thing to do. <\/p>\n \u201cBut they have been my biggest supporters. This has definitely turned into Poppy\u2019s favorite week of the year. The golfer revealed that his family was fearful of jinxing him by attending the Masters. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd also I want to thank, not thank, jeez, my mom and dad,\u201d McIlroy added. \u201cThey weren\u2019t here last year to celebrate with us. And surprisingly I had to convince them to come this year, because they thought that the reason that I won was because they weren\u2019t here. So, I\u2019m glad that we proved that wrong. <\/p>\n \u201cMom and dad, I owe everything to you. You are the most wonderful parents, and if I can be half the parent to Poppy as you were to me then I know I\u2019ve done a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n Rory McIlroy Skipped PGA Tour Events to Spend More Time With Wife, Erica & Practice for the Masters<\/p>\n There has been plenty of speculation about McIlroy\u2019s marriage. The couple called off a divorce<\/a> in 2024, and Stoll has once again been a regular at PGA Tour tournaments since the change of heart. <\/p>\n Years later, McIlroy and Stoll appear to be thriving. During the Masters, McIlroy revealed that he skipped recent PGA Tour tournaments to spend more time with his family and practice at Augusta National. <\/p>\n \u201cI honestly just don\u2019t like the three tournaments leading up to this event,\u201d McIlroy explained during an April 10, press conference. <\/a>\u201cI\u2019d rather come up here. <\/p>\n \u201cI did a couple of days where I dropped Poppy to school, flew up here, played, landed back home and had dinner with her \u2014 or had dinner with Erica probably. Like I did a couple of day trips like that where I felt it was a better use of my time than going to Houston or San Antonio.
