(WOWT) &#8211; The Douglas County Deputy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wowt.com\/2026\/04\/12\/douglas-county-sheriffs-deputy-suspect-hospitalized-after-shooting-northwest-omaha-authorities-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wowt.com\/2026\/04\/12\/douglas-county-sheriffs-deputy-suspect-hospitalized-after-shooting-northwest-omaha-authorities-say\/\">injured in a shooting on Sunday<\/a> has been identified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A release from the DCSO identified the deputy as 23-year-old Brayden Artzer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Brayden Artzer\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/3D2YCCU5GNFEVE25PVBQ6UT7PQ.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Brayden Artzer(Douglas County Sheriff&#8217;s Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Artzer began his service with the DCSO in June of 2025, and completed his field training on March 24, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">DCSO says Artzer is scheduled to be released from the hospital today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">An autopsy for Brian Huggins, the suspect in the shooting, has been scheduled for April 14. The DCSO says they plan to release more information on his cause of death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Douglas County Commissioner Board Chair Roger Garcia shared a statement about the incident:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2\">\u201cOur hearts are with everyone impacted by yesterday\u2019s tragic incident in Douglas County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2\">We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the individual who lost their life, and we are keeping the injured Douglas County Sheriff\u2019s deputy in our thoughts and prayers as he continues to recover.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-2\">This incident is a sobering reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face in the line of duty.
