StudioCanal confirmed no further details about the new take on \u201cEscape From New York.\u201d Kurt Russell starred in the original film as former special forces and current federal prisoner Snake Plissken, who will be pardoned if he can rescue the President of the United States\u00a0after he\u2019s taken hostage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStudioCanal announced later in the presentation that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/paddington\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paddington\" data-tag=\"paddington\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paddington<\/a> 4\u2033 is in the works. Again, executives shared no other information about the fourth adventure in the children\u2019s franchise. They noted that \u201cworld-renowned comedy writers\u201d were hired to pen the screenplay but stopped short of naming names.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBased on the children\u2019s series by British author Michael Bond, \u201cPaddington\u201d follows a lovable bear with a fondness for\u00a0marmalade. The first three films \u2014 2014\u2019s \u201cPaddington,\u201d 2017\u2019s \u201cPaddington 2\u201d and 2024\u2019s \u201cPaddington in Peru\u201d \u2014 have generated a combined $730 million at the global box office. StudioCanal develops and fully finances the movies, with Sony handling distribution in select territories including the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOther projects in the pipeline at StudioCanal are a remake of the 1981 horror film \u201cThe Howling,\u201d an adaptation of the best-selling novel \u201cThe Midnight Library,\u201d as well as an \u201coriginal, violent and blisteringly high-stakes thriller\u201d called \u201cThe Mannequin,\u201d starring Melissa Leo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStudioCanal closed the presentation with exclusive clips of upcoming features including \u201cShaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom,\u201d Eli Roth\u2019s slasher \u201cIce Cream Man\u201d and the dark comedy \u201cEverybody Wants to F*ck Me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A reboot of John Carpenter\u2019s \u201cEscape From New York\u201d is in development at StudioCanal.
