\n\tThe Social Reckoning<\/a> director Aaron Sorkin<\/a> hit the stage at CinemaCon<\/a> to debut the trailer for the companion piece to The Social Network<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cA while back, we told a story about a college kid who built a website in his dorm and connected the world. Well, as you might have noticed, a couple of things have changed since that dream exploded into a global corporation,\u201d Sorkin told the crowd. \u201cThere isn\u2019t a life that Facebook\u2019s algorithm hasn\u2019t touched, and that influence has reshaped everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSorkin continued, \u201cIt\u2019s time to say more.\u201d He teased of the new film, \u201cIt\u2019s a real David and Goliath story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSony Pictures<\/a>\u00a0is set to release The Social Reckoning\u00a0in theaters Oct. 9. The buzzy cast includes Mikey Madison<\/a>,\u00a0Jeremy Allen White<\/a>,\u00a0Bill Burr\u00a0and\u00a0Jeremy Strong<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI am here to help Facebook, not hurt it, OK?\u201d Madison says in the trailer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis footage marks the first look at Strong as Mark Zuckerberg<\/a>. \u201cI am professional defendant,\u201d Strong quips from a courtroom in the trailer. Later, he says of himself, \u201cI am a free speech absolutist.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer shows White saying somberly about the company, \u201cI know there are easier enemies to make.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStrong has an intense moment when he exerts his authority: \u201cPeople understand that when I say no, that\u2019s the end of the debate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSorkin directs\u00a0The Social Reckoning\u00a0from his own script after earning an Oscar for his screenplay for the original 2010 film, directed by David Fincher. The new project centers on a young Facebook engineer named Frances Haugen (Madison) who teams up with\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u00a0reporter Jeff Horwitz (White) on a risky mission to bring attention to the social network\u2019s biggest secrets.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe forthcoming film is set 17 years after the events of\u00a0The Social Network, which focused on\u00a0Jesse Eisenberg<\/a>\u2018s lead portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg as he created the social media platform and was later sued by co-founder Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) and the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer). Todd Black, Peter Rice and Stuart Besser produce\u00a0The Social Reckoning\u00a0alongside Sorkin.<\/p>\n

\n\tStrong plays Zuckerberg in\u00a0The Social Reckoning, portraying an older version of the Meta CEO than viewers saw in the 2010 movie.\u00a0Director Fincher\u2019s\u00a0The Social Network\u00a0collected $226 million at the global box office and landed eight Academy Award nominations, including best picture. Sorkin\u2019s win was among the film\u2019s three trips to the podium.<\/p>\n

\n\tCinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from April 13-16.
