\n\tDavid Letterman<\/a> is sharing his thoughts on CBS<\/a>\u2018s decision to replace The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u00a0with Comics Unleashed With\u00a0Byron Allen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe former television host and comedian reacted to the news during a recent conversation on The Barbara Gaines Show<\/a>. Letterman hosted The Late Show for more than two decades, from 1993 to 2015, and then Colbert took over.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey don\u2019t want to spend any money, so they\u2019re going to make money,\u201d he said. \u201cThey charge Byron Allen some reasonable price. He sells all the advertising for his\u00a0Comics Unleashed, and it\u2019ll be, I think, 90 minutes or two hours of comics talking about funny stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLetterman continued, \u201cThe show is a pretty good idea. It\u2019s all panel. Nobody\u2019s doing any stand-up, except they\u2019re seated doing stand-up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOnce The Late Show\u00a0signs off the air<\/a> on May 21, CBS will begin to run Comics Unleashed in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot beginning May 22. That will be followed by another Allen-produced series, Funny You Should Ask, at 12:35 a.m.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI created and launched\u00a0Comics Unleashed\u00a020 years ago so my fellow comedians could have a platform to do what we all love \u2014 make people laugh,\u201d Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group, previously said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cI truly appreciate CBS\u2019 confidence in me by picking up our two-hour comedy block of\u00a0Comics Unleashed\u00a0and\u00a0Funny You Should Ask, because the world can never have enough laughter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe switch will likely see CBS turn a profit in late night, as Allen is buying time from the network to air his shows.
