\n\tLess than a month after soccer star Jorginho Frello slammed a security guard he believed worked for Chappell Roan<\/a> for \u201cextremely aggressive\u201d<\/a> behavior towards his 11-year-old daughter, Frello is sharing that \u201cnew information\u201d has changed his \u201cunderstanding of parts of what happened\u201d and that he now believes the situation to be \u201cclosed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn March 21, Frello said that while attending Lollapalooza Brazil, his 11-year-old daughter spotted the \u201cartist she really admires, or used to admire,\u201d tagging Roan twice in his initial Instagram Stories post, during breakfast at their hotel and walked past the artist\u2019s table to make sure it was her.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrello did not name which of his children he was referring to but his wife, Catherine Harding, shares an 11-year-old daughter, Ada, with Jude Law<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe didn\u2019t even approach her,\u201d Frello wrote at the time. \u201cShe simply walked past the singer\u2019s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn\u2019t say anything, didn\u2019t ask for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhat happened next, Frello said, was \u201ccompletely disproportionate\u201d as a \u201clarge security guard\u201d came over to their table and addressed his wife and daughter in an \u201cextremely aggressive manner,\u201d adding that his wife, \u201cshouldn\u2019t allow my daughter to \u2018disrespect\u2019 or \u2018harass\u2019 other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFrello went on to criticize the artist after the incident left his daughter in tears.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve lived with football, public exposure, and well-known people for many years, and I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans. At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this. I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn closing, tagging Roan\u2019s Instagram account, he wrote, \u201cWITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRoan responded to the incident the next day<\/a>, insisting the guard was not her \u201cpersonal security,\u201d who she didn\u2019t ask to confront the mother and daughter, and Roan said she didn\u2019t even notice them.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey did not come up to me. They weren\u2019t doing anything. It\u2019s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn\u2019t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there\u2019s no action even taken,\u201d she explained in a video. \u201cI do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy. I\u2019m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something that you would do something and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, while Frello maintains that \u201cthe situation did occur as it was originally described,\u201d he indicates his response was driven more by his protective instinct as a father. His initial statement, he writes on his Instagram Stories on Monday<\/a>, came about \u201cin the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way \u2026 My priority is, and always will be, protecting my family, and that is exactly what I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSaying the guard \u201chas since confirmed publicly that he was representing another artist at the hotel at the time,\u201d Frello adds it\u2019s now clear that the guard wasn\u2019t acting on Roan\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrello said the incident was a \u201cmisunderstanding\u201d and he\u2019s \u201cglad to set the record straight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s important to me that this is clarified fairly and accurately,\u201d he said. \u201cI regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada and our family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFrello also shared that Roan reached out to his wife \u201cprivately\u201d and both sides\u2019 teams \u201cspoke directly.\u201d The artist, he said was \u201cunderstanding and sympathetic\u201d and he says based on the conversations with Roan\u2019s team, it \u201cbecame clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn conclusion, he said he does \u201cnot support or encourage hate speech or online attacks from any side\u201d and stressed the values of \u201crespect, empathy and humility \u2026 As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed.\u201d<\/p>\n
