The Colorado Avalanche (52-16-11) begin their last regular-season trip against the Edmonton Oilers (40-30-10). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:38 p.m. MT.

Key Stories to Watch

The Avalanche will play two games on the road without Jared Bednar behind the bench. The team’s head coach took a puck to the side of the face on Saturday at Ball Arena and sustained facial fractures and a corneal abrasion. Assistant coaches Dave Hakstol and Nolan Pratt will share coaching duties, with Hakstol, who has head coaching experience, calling line changes.

The expectation is for Colorado to start resting players in this game, but we won’t know until they take the ice for warm ups. The team is still without injured Cale Makar, Nazem Kadri, and Josh Manson, all of which are recovering from upper-body injuries. Makar skated with the team in a regular sweater at morning skate, while Kadri donned a red non contact.

After two straight games with Mackenzie Blackwood in goal, it’s likely we’ll see Scott Wedgewood back in goal, as he tries to win his 30th of the season.

The Oilers are still fighting for the top seed in the Central Division. They’re currently a point back of the Vegas Golden Knights, who defeated the Avs in overtime on Saturday. Connor Ingram starts for Edmonton
