After more than half a century, the road cycling world championships are coming back to Montreal in September.<\/p>\n

The UCI Road World Championships are returning to Montreal in September for the first time in 52 years. The citywide competition features 13 events in eight days. Parc Avenue, a major North-South artery in the city, will be off limits to motorists between des Pins and Mont-Royal avenues from Sept. 5 to Oct. 4.<\/p>\n

Work will also be carried out ahead of the championships on 36 kilometres of the city’s road network to resurface and upgrade streets where races will be held. <\/p>\n

The city said it is prioritizing public and active transport and around 40 bus routes will be diverted but maintained. <\/p>\n
Furthermore, the city said pedestrian walkways and crossways will be put in place to maintain access to neighbourhoods and parking solutions will be in place for residents in affected areas. <\/p>\n
