Angel Reese<\/a> has become one of the top players in the WNBA<\/a> during her two seasons with the Chicago Sky<\/a>. But after failing to make the playoffs in both 2024 and 2025, the Sky elected to move on from their two-time All-Star forward, sending Reese to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for a first-round pick in 2027 and 2028, along with the rights to swap 2028 second-round picks.<\/p>\n

And on Monday, Reese and the Dream welcomed three new players during the 2026 WNBA Draft. Atlanta selected former South Carolina center Madina Okot with the No. 13 pick in the first round. It later took UNC\u2019s Indya Nivar in the second round and wrapped up by selecting China\u2019s Kejia Ran in the third and final round. But there was another draft pick that caught Reese\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n

Raven Johnson, a 5-foot-8 guard from Atlanta, spent her entire five-year college career with Dawn Staley on the South Carolina Gamecocks<\/a>, helping the team win two national championships. But the 2025-26 season was arguably her best, averaging 9.9 points on 48.6% shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, becoming the SEC<\/a> Defensive Player of the Year as well.<\/p>\n

Just like 44 other former college basketball players on Monday night, Johnson found herself on a new team after being selected with the No. 10 pick in the first round by the Indiana Fever<\/a>. She now joins the likes of Caitlin Clark<\/a>, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston<\/a> on what many consider the Sky\u2019s rival team, bringing her defensive presence to Stephanie White\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, one day after the WNBA Draft, Johnson took to social media to share her post-draft outfit, revealing a black leather jacket featuring nods to her basketball journey, including the Fever logo on the back along with the word \u201cdrafted.\u201d<\/p>\n

“a jacket built from every step of my journey. @wearecititrends,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Reese took notice of the Indiana rookie’s post, sharing her support for Johnson in the comments section: “my booskieee\ud83d\ude0d.”<\/p>\n

Reese will open her Dream tenure on May 10, facing the Minnesota Lynx, while Johnson will begin her WNBA journey with the Fever on May 9, hosting the Dallas Wings.<\/p>\n
