{"id":585484,"date":"2026-04-15T10:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T10:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/585484\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T10:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T10:13:08","slug":"breaking-news-jan-de-nul-gears-up-for-itapoa-project-second-phase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/585484\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS: Jan De Nul gears up for Itapo\u00e1 project second phase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jan De Nul has successfully completed the first phase of the largest beach widening project ever carried out in Brazil \u2013 Itapo\u00e1. <\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/brazil-1-768x548.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large\" alt=\"\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>photo courtesy of Jan De Nul<\/p>\n<p>Between October 11, 2025 and January 14, 2026, their trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Galileo Galilei executed dredging works in Babitonga Bay, deepening the access channel while simultaneously reinforcing the adjacent coastline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver a length of 8 kilometers, the beach was widened to minimum 40 meters, creating a stronger natural buffer against wave action and storm events. In total, about 4,000,000 cubic meters of reclaimed sand were carefully placed along the shoreline,\u201d Jan De Nul said.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0second phase\u00a0of the beach widening works is scheduled for end of\u00a0this month.
