GRANGER, Ind. (WSBT) \u2014 A local workout class is going viral for its video of their playful, but challenging style of exercise.<\/p>\n
Over 26 million views and still climbing, and now this is sparking a busy online conversation about internet bullying in the world of fitness.<\/p>\n
Be Well Michiana in Granger offers a unique style of cardio focused on rhythm, agility and musical expression.<\/p>\n
An hour of hitting drumsticks against a yoga ball is enough to break a sweat on even the toughest bodybuilder.<\/p>\n
Be Well Michiana owner Sara Sauer recently posted an Instagram video of the high intensity workout class, tucked the phone away, and unplugged.<\/p>\n
“The next night, there was a storm going on, and I opened my phone to check and see like where’s the storm and are there any warnings, and that was the first time I realized that we had 3 million views on the video,” said Sauer.<\/p>\n
Now, just a few weeks later the count is 26.5 million views and counting.<\/p>\n
Sauer says even more surprising was the comment section.<\/p>\n
Several negative messages and posts almost led her to take the video down, but the overwhelming number of positive comments kept Sauer from hitting “delete.”<\/p>\n
“So, we’ve had a lot of fitness influencers who have either reached out to me privately, they’ve sent me messages. There was a coach in Australia who sent me a voice message saying how awesome she that what we were doing and encouraging us to keep going,” said Sauer.<\/p>\n
Sauer says she read some of the comments to her class, sharing the good and the bad.<\/p>\n
And now, they’re pushing harder.<\/p>\n
“And they keep, like, they’ll recommend songs. They’re like, oh, let’s do this song. It’s real spicy, it’s sassy. You know, it’s like a clap back at the haters,” said Sauer.<\/p>\n
For Sauer, cardio drumming was a way back into fitness after suffering a brain hemorrhage at age 29.<\/p>\n
“And my biggest argument to anyone who’s been saying that we’re not doing anything or that we should be doing something else or something more effective is the most effective workout is the workout that you love enough that you’ll keep doing it,” said Sauer.<\/p>\n
And now, Sauer is creating a community cardio drumming event for the summer to raise money for Rio’s Rainbow.<\/p>\n
“And it’s an organization that connects kids with resources. If they are experiencing bullying, it’s an amazing community organization that literally is there to combat this. Like, this is important and this needs to stop,” said Sauer.<\/p>\n
The fundraiser is called “Shine the Light on Bullying Mega Cardio Drumming Class.”<\/p>\n
It is scheduled for June 6 at the Tolson Center in Elkhart.<\/p>\n
There will be a $15 donation for the event.<\/p>\n
