As part of its 2025-26 non-conference slate, Ohio State will take on the defending national champions. The Buckeyes will travel to Hartford, Connecticut, for a matchup with the Huskies on November 16, as part of a home-and-home series that will take place over the next two years. The agreement between the two programs means UConn will make a return trip to Columbus, in a separate game during the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

Not only are the Huskies the defending national champions, but they are the preeminent brand in women\u2019s college basketball. Since legendary head coach Geno Auriemma took over as the leader of the program in 1985, the Huskies have won 12 national championships, the most of any women\u2019s basketball program.<\/p>\n

The Huskies will be without three-time first-team All-American guard Paige Bueckers this year, but there is no reason to believe they won\u2019t be one of the best teams in the country again.<\/p>\n

Led by 2025 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Azzi Fudd, the Huskies will likely be one of the highest-ranked teams in the country when they take on the Buckeyes for the early-season matchup.<\/p>\n

The matchup against the Huskies should bring back good memories for Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff, as he led his 2022-23 team to a monumental win over UConn in the Sweet 16, which gave the program its first Elite Eight appearance since 1993.<\/p>\n
