She kicks off the book event series Sept. 10, speaking with host Kerri Miller about Abrams\u2019 latest, \u201cCoded Justice.\u201d It\u2019s the third in the Madison, Wis., native\u2019s series of books about former Supreme Court clerk Avery Keene, this time investigating a murder at an influential tech company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Next up on Sept. 25 is Patricia Lockwood, who, like Abrams, has written fiction and nonfiction bestsellers. Her breakthrough was the memoir \u201cPriestdaddy\u201d and her 2021 novel \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/review-no-one-is-talking-about-this-by-patricia-lockwood\/600024919\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/review-no-one-is-talking-about-this-by-patricia-lockwood\/600024919\">No One Is Talking About This<\/a>\u201d was a Booker Prize finalist. Lockwood\u2019s unsettling new novel is \u201cWill There Ever Be Another You,\u201d about a woman trying to hold it together in the midst of a global pandemic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Ballet superstar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/ballet-superstar-misty-copeland-will-share-love-for-beautiful-art-form-in-minneapolis\/507481522\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/ballet-superstar-misty-copeland-will-share-love-for-beautiful-art-form-in-minneapolis\/507481522\">Misty Copeland<\/a>, who retires from American Ballet Theatre in October and who was ABT\u2019s first Black principal dancer, will appear Sept. 28. The author of several memoirs and books about dance, Copeland discusses her latest picture book, \u201cBunheads, Act 2: The Dance of Courage,\u201d in which young dancers learn the ballet \u201cDon Quixote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" data-testid=\"InLineImage\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"object-contain h-auto w-full\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/AGYV3MFDG3F45HRBGZJJ4QJYJE.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Misty Copeland&#8217;s latest picture book is \u201cBunheads, Act 2: The Dance of Courage.\u201d (Charles Sykes, Invision\/The Associated Press)<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">John Grisham, one of the world\u2019s bestselling authors and the father of the legal thriller genre that continues to dominate bestseller lists, will chat with Miller on Oct. 23. The author of \u201cThe Firm\u201d and \u201cThe Runaway Jury\u201d returns to courtrooms with \u201cThe Widow,\u201d in which a young lawyer lucks into a big-money case, only to find himself accused of murder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Poet Kate Baer concludes the series on Nov. 17, talking about her collection \u201cHow About Now.\u201d Baer also is the author of \u201cWhat Kind of Woman\u201d and \u201cI Hope This Finds You Well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">All five Talking Volumes conversations are at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul; Copeland\u2019s event is at 2 p.m. and the others are at 7 p.m. Miller hosts the first four events, with Catharine Richert interviewing Baer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rt-Text\">Sales to Minnesota Star Tribune subscribers and MPR members begin Monday at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to everyone July 21. Tickets are $30 per event for subscribers and members, $34 for the general public.
