\n\tAmazon MGM<\/a> brought a teaser of \u201cI Play Rocky<\/a>,\u201d a drama about the true story behind the tumultuous making of the 1976 boxing classic \u201cRocky.\u201d Anthony Ippolito, best known for \u201cThe Offer,\u201d portrays a young Sylvester Stallone, perfectly channeling his mumbly delivery, hunched over posture and lumbering sweetness. Seriously, it\u2019s uncanny.<\/p>\n \n\tThe movie takes place long before Stallone was known as an onscreen action hero. Back in the \u201970s, he was a struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment. He wrote the script to \u201cRocky\u201d but refused to sell the rights unless he got to portray the lead character. \u201cRocky\u201d revolves around a small-time boxer who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to take on the reigning world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). The logline for \u201cI Play Rocky\u201d describes Stallone \u201cunshakable belief that he wasn\u2019t just meant to write Rocky, he was meant to be Rocky Balboa.\u201d Given its November release date, \u201cI Play Rocky\u201d looks like it\u2019s being positioned as a possible awards contender. <\/p>\n \n\tUnfamiliar with the behind-the-scenes drama? The trailer that Amazon MGM shared shows Stallone struggling to break through as an actor and turning to screenwriting to create his own opportunities. He comes up with a killer story, but his insistence on portraying the title role leads him to turn down six-figure deals. Instead, he gets a chance to have the movie made for under $1 million, with the studio boss rooting for him to go behind schedule so he have him yanked from the picture and replaced with an A-lister. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a movie for anyone who\u2019s ever been naive and crazy enough to make their dream a reality,\u201d Peter Farrelly, the film\u2019s director said while introducing the teaser. <\/p>\n \n\tThe ultimate underdog story, \u201cRocky\u201d became that year\u2019s biggest box office hit and eventual Oscar best picture winner over the likes of \u201cAll the President\u2019s Men\u201d and \u201cTaxi Driver.\u201d The original \u201cRocky\u201d spawned several sequels as well as the \u201cCreed\u201d spinoff series led by Michael B. Jordan. Not everything involving the kind-hearted slugger worked. There was also a Broadway musical that has been justly forgotten.<\/p>\n \n\tFarrelly is best known for directing the Oscar-winning \u201cGreen Book.\u201d Ippolito is starring alongside Stephan James as Weathers, as well as AnnaSophia Robb, Matt Dillon, P.J.
