JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
\n \u2013 A Jacksonville mother is asking for the public\u2019s help as she continues to search for her missing 13-year-old daughter, who has been gone for months.<\/p>\n
The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office has classified Xaiyah Thomas\u2019 case as a runaway, but her family believes the situation is far more serious.<\/p>\n
Xaiyah Thomas, 13, was last seen in January. According to her mother, Kryshonda Thomas, there was some contact with her daughter early on through social media, offering reassurance that she was safe. That communication abruptly stopped in early March after they received a troubling message on social media, indicating that she couldn\u2019t return home. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe said, \u2018These men won\u2019t let me come home,\u2019\u201d Thomas said. \u201cWe called, texted. We did everything, but she was doing all this via Facebook. She doesn\u2019t have a phone, so there was nothing we could track.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since her daughter\u2019s disappearance, Thomas said she has searched continuously across North Florida, checking neighborhoods, stores and hotels while also caring for her other children.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been hard, it\u2019s been rough,\u201d she said. \u201cI haven\u2019t been able to work. I haven\u2019t been able to eat. I haven\u2019t been able to sleep. That\u2019s my baby.\u201d<\/p>\n
There has been no contact since that message, Thomas said, including during significant family moments such as her birthday in March.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy kids don\u2019t miss my birthday,\u201d she said. \u201cShe would have said something.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the uncertainty, Thomas said she continues to rely on faith and support from the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have people I\u2019ve never met reaching out to pray with me every day,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s keeping me going.\u201d<\/p>\n
She remains hopeful her daughter will return home safely.<\/p>\n
\u201cCome home,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to be OK. It\u2019s hard for me right now without you. Just come home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family is offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to Xaiyah Thomas\u2019 safe return. Anyone with information is urged to contact local authorities.<\/p>\n
