It’s always painful to witness your shiny new iPhone 17 Pro Max endure excessive wear and tear, to the extent that becomes prominently damaged with visible bumps, scratches, and other blemishes that ruin the appearance of Apple’s latest and greatest flagship.

Since the company switched to aluminum, it is more prone to damage, but one of its attributes is that with the right pair of hands, those marks can easily be removed. Owners are now seeking the help of experts who are restoring these devices to their factory condition, kind of like repairing damaged cars.

On X, Pixel Gamer 4k has shared a video showing how iPhone 17 Pro Max owners in China are repairing these handsets with clear marks on the exterior, which show signs that they were dropped on an extremely unforgiving surface. Naturally, when dropped from a decent height, any smartphone, regardless of what materials were used to craft its exterior, would sustain heavy damage. The question is how well the repair job addresses this problem.

Apparently, the workers behind the restoration are employing flawless skills to remove all visible marks and why wouldn’t they? In China, where the median wage is between $1,420 and $1,490, making it four times less than what the average American earns, purchasing an iPhone 17 Pro Max is a luxury for many as the flagship’s price is inaccessible to a large portion of buyers.

Fortunately, the region also houses restoration experts like the one you’re seeing in the video below, with these services likely readily available at affordable rates. In fact, we cannot recall if the same level of skill can be replicated in the U.S., highlighting the expensive after-sales services that customers have to pay for living outside of China.
