{"id":590188,"date":"2026-04-17T18:03:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/590188\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T18:03:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T18:03:14","slug":"ford-recalls-nearly-1-4-million-f-150-pickup-trucks-due-to-gearshift-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/590188\/","title":{"rendered":"Ford recalls nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks due to gearshift issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks due to a gearshift issue that can increase the risk of a crash, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/recalls?nhtsaId=26V237000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">notice<\/a> from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Federal regulators said a loss in signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module transmission can cause certain F-150 trucks to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, which could result in a loss of vehicle control.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The recall affects F-150 vehicles equipped with six-speed automatic transmission  produced between March 12, 2014, and Aug. 18, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In its recall <a href=\"https:\/\/static.nhtsa.gov\/odi\/rcl\/2026\/RCLRPT-26V237-6816.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">report<\/a>, NHTSA said some vehicle owners may notice an illuminated malfunction indicator light or wrench light on the vehicle&#8217;s dashboard if there&#8217;s an issue with the transmission range sensor.<\/p>\n<p>Ford is aware of two injuries and one accident potentially related to the gearshift issue, according to NHTSA.<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan-based carmaker plans to send letters to vehicle owners beginning April 27.
