{"id":590606,"date":"2026-04-17T22:52:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T22:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/590606\/"},"modified":"2026-04-17T22:52:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T22:52:15","slug":"golfers-in-the-villages-may-be-noticing-droughts-impact-on-courses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/590606\/","title":{"rendered":"Golfers in The Villages may be noticing drought\u2019s impact on courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Golf courses are under increasing stress as a result of the drought in Florida\u2019s Friendliest Hometown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With Phase 3 water restrictions now in effect, golfers may be noticing changes in golf course conditions and maintenance practices, according to the The Villages District Government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Irrigation is being managed in accordance with Southwest Florida Water Management District guidelines, with greens and tees watered up to three times per week, fairways once per week, and rough areas not receiving irrigation. To maintain turf quality under these limitations, superintendents will place greater emphasis on hand-watering to address localized dry areas.
