{"id":591113,"date":"2026-04-18T05:07:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T05:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/591113\/"},"modified":"2026-04-18T05:07:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T05:07:14","slug":"qvc-group-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/591113\/","title":{"rendered":"QVC Group Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/qvc-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_qvc-2\" data-tag=\"qvc-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">QVC<\/a> Group, whose networks pioneered the concept of live TV shopping in the 1980s and built it into a mainstay of the late-20th century media business, has filed for <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/chapter-11\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chapter-11\" data-tag=\"chapter-11\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chapter 11<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bankruptcy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bankruptcy\" data-tag=\"bankruptcy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bankruptcy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe voluntary filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Southern Texas was cited by company management as a way to help it transition from TV to live social media retailing via a restructuring program. The move is expected to provide \u201ca more appropriate capital structure,\u201d QVC Group CEO David Rawlinson said. Debt is projected to be reduced to $1.3 billion from $6.6 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe company said its portfolio, which includes QVC, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hsn-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hsn-2\" data-tag=\"hsn-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HSN<\/a>, and Cornerstone Brands, is operating as usual across channels and platforms during the bankruptcy process, which is expected to wrap up this summer. QVC said it has \u201cample liquidity\u201d to keep the business running, fulfill restructuring obligations to vendors, suppliers and other unsecured creditors, and continue paying employees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNo layoffs or furloughs are planned as part of the restructuring, and employees \u201cshould fully expect to continue receiving their wages and benefits without interruption,\u201d the company said in an announcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cQVC Group is uniquely positioned to compete and win in live social shopping,\u201d Rawlinson said. \u201cOver the past year, we have become a top seller on TikTok Shop U.S. while expanding our business on streaming and other platforms. We have consolidated our HSN and QVC operations, struck new deals with critical social and media partners, and rebalanced sourcing to account for the changing tariff environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tQVC launched in 1986 as an alternative to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/home-shopping-network\/\" id=\"auto-tag_home-shopping-network\" data-tag=\"home-shopping-network\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Home Shopping Network<\/a>, which had started several years earlier. The two competed for many years. John Malone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/liberty-media\/\" id=\"auto-tag_liberty-media\" data-tag=\"liberty-media\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liberty Media<\/a> took a controlling stake in HSN during the 1990s. QVC, which had gained early support from Comcast founder Ralph Roberts, was acquired by Barry Diller a short time later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tYears later, when the internet, smart phones and cord-cutting eroded both networks\u2019 business, HSN acquired QVC in a $2.1 billion all-stock deal. QVC Group remains part of the Liberty portfolio, with former Liberty CEO Greg Maffei serving as executive chairman.
