Jon Rahm brushed off a question about LIV Golf\u2019s precarious situation<\/a> on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the first round of the rebel league\u2019s Mexico City event, the Spaniard said he wasn\u2019t \u201cwasting time thinking about\u201d the rumors of LIV\u2019s impending demise<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil the people in charge told me whether or not the rumors were true, there was no point in dwelling on it or wasting time thinking about it,\u201d Rahm said. \u201cWe were here, we knew we were going to play, so the idea was to prepare for a tournament. That\u2019s all.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSince everything happened so suddenly and quickly, I wasn\u2019t too worried about it because we usually know something before the rumors even start. There\u2019s always someone in the league who knows something. It was so fast that I wasn\u2019t really worried about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two-time major champion\u2019s comments come amid a chaotic few days for LIV.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, chatter surfaced of a coming shutdown for the golf league, which officially launched in 2022 and has since shaken up the sport.<\/p>\n

LIV and its executives were reportedly summoned to New York for an \u201cemergency summit\u201d as the tour kicked off its Mexico City tournament.<\/p>\n

CEO Scott O\u2019Neil pushed back on the notion that LIV was entering its final days earlier this week, but admitted Friday that the Saudi-backed league\u2019s future beyond 2026 is in question<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reality is that you\u2019re funded through the season, and then you work like crazy as a business to create a business and a business plan to keep us going,\u201d O\u2019Neil said in an interview with TNT Sports UK that was later taken off its X account.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut that\u2019s not different from any other private equity-funded business in the history of mankind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia<\/a> also didn\u2019t reveal much when asked questions by reporters about the supposed crisis facing LIV.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t heard anything other than what Yasir [Al-Rumayyan] told us at the beginning of the year. That he\u2019s behind us, that they have a long-term project,\u201d Garcia said Wednesday. \u201cYou know there are always a lot of rumors, and I can\u2019t tell you anything more than what we already know.\u201d<\/p>\n
