The United Football League hasn\u2019t generated much interest from football fans, but NFL scouts are watching.<\/p>\n
Raiders General Manager John Spytek said he and his pro personnel department make a point of scouting the UFL, Canadian Football League, NFL International Player Pathway program and any other potential source of players that other teams missed on.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe watch football whenever it\u2019s on. That\u2019s one of the requirements of the job. We\u2019ve got a great pro department,\u201d Spytek said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s UFL, CFL, IPP program, if there\u2019s football going on and there\u2019s players we think can help us, we\u2019re watching. And they do an awesome job with it.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the same time, those aren\u2019t major sources of new talent the way the NFL draft is. Spytek\u2019s comments came at the end of his pre-draft press conference, and he was surprised that the final question he got was on that topic.<\/p>\n
