Iron Maiden<\/a> will be skipping the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame<\/a> induction ceremony.<\/p>\n

The band are among the inductees announced earlier this week in the main \u2018Performer\u2019 category<\/a>, which also includes Phil Collins<\/a>,\u00a0Billy Idol<\/a>, Joy Division<\/a>\/New Order<\/a>,\u00a0Oasis<\/a>,\u00a0Sade<\/a>, Luther Vandross and\u00a0Wu-Tang Clan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Iron Maiden have been eligible for induction since 2005, having released their self-titled debut album back in 1980. In the years since, they\u2019ve been nominated twice, but are only now finally set to be inducted. However,\u00a0it\u2019s now been revealed that they won\u2019t be attending the ceremony.<\/p>\n

It comes after comments from frontman Bruce Dickinson<\/a> in 2018, when he branded the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame \u201can utter and complete load of bollocks\u201d.<\/p>\n

His words came in response to a fan during a Q&A, when he was asked if he thinks the band should be inducted. \u201cAbsolutely,\u201d he replied. \u201cI actually think the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an utter and complete load of bollocks, to be honest with you.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn\u2019t know rock and roll if it hit them in the face,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey need to stop taking Prozac and start drinking fucking beer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the band\u2019s manager, Rod Smallwood, has confirmed that they won\u2019t appear at the ceremony, but only because they don\u2019t want to interrupt the Australia and New Zealand leg of their ongoing \u2018Run For Your Lives\u2019 Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Billboard<\/a>, Smallwood said: \u201cAs the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the Induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cIn accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the R&R HoF that the fans always come first and that the shows will of course go on\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Smallwood went on to say: \u201cWe would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected, and we look forward to bringing the Run For Your Lives Tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th anniversary celebrations.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear if Dickinson still feels the same way, but the band did put out\u00a0a statement of celebration upon news that they had finally received the honour.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Smallwood said: \u201cIron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it\u2019s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!<\/p>\n

Liam Gallagher<\/a>, who is also inducted this year with Oasis, has expressed a similar sentiment in the past. He had previously\u00a0reacted to their 2024 nomination by writing<\/a>: \u201cFuck the Rock n\u00a0Roll hall\u00a0of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS\u201d.\u00a0He also discouraged fans from voting for them, calling it \u201ca load of bollox\u201d.<\/p>\n

Gallagher reiterated his sentiments last year<\/a>, saying the Rock Hall was \u201cfor WANKERS\u201d. However, he replied to one fan asking what would happen if they got in by saying: \u201cObv go and say it\u2019s the best thing EVER.\u201d<\/p>\n

He will, in fact, be attending the ceremony, saying earlier this week that his\u00a0mother has told him to \u201cstop being a dick\u201d and accept the honour<\/a>. He also confirmed that he and\u00a0Noel<\/a> would be \u201cboth going\u201d, writing: \u201cWe\u2019re soooooo proud and humble.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Peter Hook<\/a> has also confirmed he\u2019ll be attending<\/a> while dedicating Joy Division<\/a>\u2018s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame to\u00a0Ian Curtis<\/a>. It is not yet known whether the current members of New Order will be in attendance, too.<\/p>\n

The bassist quit New Order in 2007 due to friction with his bandmates, and there had also been a legal row over ownership of assets. Last year,\u00a0Hook said there was still \u201canimosity\u201d with\u00a0the group, which he called a \u201cbad cover version\u201d band<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In other Iron Maiden news, the band\u2019s \u2018Run For Your Lives\u2019 tour will include the unique EddFest celebration in Knebworth Park<\/a>\u00a0on July 11. The event\u2019s name is taken from the band\u2019s famous mascot, Eddie, and comes almost two decades after they headlined an earlier iteration of the festival in Bangalore, India.<\/p>\n

The Darkness<\/a>,\u00a0The Hu<\/a>, Airbourne and The Almighty are set to support, while the event will include the biggest Eddie\u2019s Dive Bar ever, as well as Maiden-themed food and other specialised stalls. Proceedings will kick off on Friday 10 July for fans with camping tickets, and you can find any remaining tickets\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The metal legends are also set to headline the first day of Louder Than Life festival<\/a>\u00a0in Louisville, Kentucky, in September. They\u2019ll be joined at the rock and metal festival by the likes of\u00a0My Chemical Romance<\/a>,\u00a0Tool<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Limp Bizkit<\/a>.<\/p>\n
