Luke Shaw couldn\u2019t resist a cheeky dig at Alejandro Garnacho<\/a> after Manchester United\u2019s<\/a> 1-0 win over Chelsea<\/a> on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils moved a huge step towards securing qualification for next season\u2019s Champions League<\/a> thanks to Matheus Cunha\u2019s goal on the stroke of half-time. The result at Stamford Bridge leaves United third in the Premier League<\/a> table on 58 points with only five fixtures remaining.<\/p>\n

It was difficult night for Garnacho, previously ranked as one of the world’s best young players<\/a>, who walked away from Man Utd last summer. The 21-year-old Argentine started the match on the substitutes\u2019 bench but was called into action after just 16 minutes when Estevao suffered an injury.<\/p>\n

As anticipated, Garnacho received a hostile reception from the travelling United supporters, who booed and jeered his every touch. The winger struggled to make an impact against Diogo Dalot and lost possession 15 times.<\/p>\n

Bruno Responds to Shaw’s Garnacho Post<\/p>\n

However, it appears his former Manchester United teammates have little sympathy for him. Luke Shaw posted a photo of Garnacho falling over alongside the caption: \u201cImportant win\u201d.<\/p>\n

A number of Shaw\u2019s current teammates joined in with the fun, including Joshua Zirkzee, Shea Lacey and Tyler Fletcher.<\/p>\n

The club captain Bruno Fernandes<\/a>, who notched his 18th Premier League assist of the season against Garnacho\u2019s side, added a meme with a caption that reads: \u201cThat\u2019s a violation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Saturday night\u2019s game at Stamford Bridge was an opportunity for Garnacho to show what Man Utd are missing, but the evening couldn\u2019t have gone much worse for the Madrid-born forward.<\/p>\n

Chelsea\u2019s hopes of securing a top-five finish and Champions League football for next season also suffered a major blow. The Blues find themselves in sixth spot, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool<\/a> who have a game in hand.<\/p>\n

However, it was another excellent night for Michael Carrick, the frontrunner to land the Manchester United job on a full-time basis this summer. His players responded in style following Monday\u2019s shock 2-1 home defeat to Leeds United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all on Monday night, you can lose games of football. The world doesn\u2019t end because you lose a game, so we were fine – we learned from things and we spoke about a few things, but that’s football,\u201d Carrick told reporters after the win over Chelsea. \u201cThe league is what it is. I think you see that, there’s results all over the place in different ways.<\/p>\n
