Charlize Theron slammed Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet over his \u201creckless\u201d comments about ballet and opera<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMonster\u201d actress \u2014 who famously trained in ballet \u2014 told the New York Times<\/a> in a new interview Saturday that dance was \u201cprobably one of the hardest things [she] ever did.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cDancers are superheroes. What they put their bodies through in complete silence,\u201d she shared, to which the interviewer replied: \u201cSorry, Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,\u201d Theron, 50, shared. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut in 10 years, A.I. is going to be able to do Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live. And we shouldn\u2019t [expletive] on other art forms.\u201d <\/p>\n

The \u201cDevil\u2019s Advocate\u201d star said dance taught her discipline, structure, hard work and how to be tough. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s borderline abusive. There were several times that I had blood infections from blisters that just never healed. And you don\u2019t get a day off,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m literally talking about bleeding through your shoes. And that\u2019s something that you have to practice every single day, the mind-set of just, you don\u2019t give up, there\u2019s no other option, you keep going,\u201d Theron concluded.<\/p>\n

Page Six has reached out to Chalamet for comment but did not immediately hear back.<\/p>\n

In February, Chalamet, 30, made headlines when he said he\u00a0didn\u2019t \u201cwant to be working in ballet or opera<\/a>\u00a0where it\u2019s like, \u2018Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after Chalamet\u2019s statement went viral, several stars\u00a0slammed the actor publicly<\/a>, including ballet legend Misty Copeland, who said he\u00a0\u201cshouldn\u2019t be comparing\u201d his craft to other art forms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wouldn\u2019t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star if it weren\u2019t for opera and ballet and their relevance in that medium,\u201d the ballet dancer, 43, explained.<\/p>\n

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg also took aim at the \u201cWonka\u201d actor\u2019s remarks<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of a really good movie experience, we are all united with a whole bunch of feelings that we walk into the daylight with, or into the nighttime with,\u201d the \u201cJaws\u201d director, 79, said during a panel at\u00a0SXSW\u00a02026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s nothing like that. It happens in movies and in concerts. And it happens in ballet and opera, by the way,\u201d Spielberg added. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe want that to be sustained. We want that to go forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
