The college football season doesn\u2019t begin for months, but Texas A&M has already suffered a major blow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the Aggies\u2019 Maroon and White spring game on Saturday, senior linebacker Daymion Sanford suffered what appeared to be a significant left leg injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sanford, named one of the team\u2019s captains on Friday, had to be carted off the field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He suffered the injury while making a tackle and needed a cast on the lower part of his leg, AggieYell reported<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got injured, lower body and we\u2019ll figure it out,\u201d said Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko, who added he never considered ending the scrimmage.<\/p>\n

Sanford was a key part of Texas A&M\u2019s defense as a junior, helping get the Aggies to the College Football Playoffs \u2014 where they lost in the semifinals to Miami at College Station, despite allowing just 10 points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas A&M won its first 11 games of the season before losing to Texas to keep the Aggies out of the SEC title game and then suffering the season-ending defeat to Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
