Ligue 1<\/a> leaders Paris Saint-Germain <\/a>suffered a shock defeat as Lyon<\/a> boosted their hopes of playing Champions League football next season with a 2-1 success at Parc des Princes.<\/p>\n

Endrick<\/a> and Afonso Moreira<\/a> struck in the opening 18 minutes as Lyon claimed their first win over the Parisians since April 2023.<\/p>\n

Substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia<\/a> grabbed a consolation goal with a wonderful curling effort from just outside the box deep in stoppage time, but it was too little and far too late for PSG.<\/p>\n

Luis Enrique’s defending champions were out of sorts and Gon\u00e7alo Ramos<\/a> had a first-half penalty saved.<\/p>\n

PSG remain one point ahead of second-placed Lens<\/a> with a game in hand, and the two sides will meet in the penultimate round of Ligue 1 fixtures next month.<\/p>\n

Lyon’s victory takes them from sixth up to third and in to the final Champions League spot with six games remaining.<\/p>\n

Paulo Fonseca’s side took the lead with their first attack after six minutes as Moreira’s scuffed shot found its way to Endrick.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian, on loan from Real Madrid<\/a>, took it in his stride and beat Matvei Safonov<\/a> with a powerful finish that went in off a post, his fourth league goal and first since scoring a hat-trick at Metz<\/a> on Jan. 25.<\/p>\n

Endrick then chipped an audacious pass with the outside of the foot for Abner Vin\u00edcius to test Safonov with an acrobatic overhead kick.<\/p>\n

PSG did not manage an attempt on goal until Lucas Beraldo’s 20-yard effort was pushed aside by Dominik Greif<\/a>, but it was Lyon<\/a> who profited from the resulting corner.<\/p>\n

The visitors cleared the set-piece and Endrick released Moreira, who scampered away from the halfway line to double Lyon’s lead.<\/p>\n

PSG went close when Bradley Barcola<\/a> was denied by a brave block from Ainsley Maitland-Niles<\/a>, but the England<\/a> international was penalised moments later for dragging down Lucas Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ramos sent his spot kick too close to Greif, who guessed correctly to his right, and the Portugal<\/a> forward headed over Achraf Hakimi’s free kick close to the interval.<\/p>\n

Moreira forced a smart stop from Safonov before PSG sent on Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Demb\u00e9l\u00e9<\/a> just before the hour mark in a bid to rescue the situation.<\/p>\n

Kvaratskhelia was influential down the left flank and Grief kept out his angled attempt, while Dembele shook the crossbar with a stinging drive from 20 yards.<\/p>\n
