{"id":594841,"date":"2026-04-20T03:28:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T03:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/594841\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T03:28:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T03:28:12","slug":"new-debian-project-leader-elected-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/594841\/","title":{"rendered":"New Debian Project Leader Elected For 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DEBIAN\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/debian.webp.webp\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/><br \/>\nSruthi Chandran has been elected the new Debian Project Leader &#8220;DPL&#8221; after running unopposed in this year&#8217;s elections.<\/p>\n<p>Sruthi Chandran was the only candidate and then following the voting formalities for a quorum, she has now been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debian.org\/vote\/2026\/vote_001\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">elected<\/a> the next DPL.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Andreas Tille&#8217;s term is expiring tomorrow and chose not to seek another term as the Debian Project Leader.&#13;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1776655692_403_image.webp\" alt=\"Debian 13\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Sruthi Chandran&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debian.org\/vote\/2025\/platforms\/srud\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">platform page<\/a> describes herself as a librarian turned Free Software enthusiast and Debian Developer. She has been involved with Ruby, JavaScript, Go, and font packages for Debian since 2016 while noting &#8220;not very active nowadays&#8221; with the packaging. She has also been a Community Team delegate, Outreach team member, and DebConf Committee member.
