As the frontman of <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/tool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Tool<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/a-perfect-circle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">A Perfect Circle<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/puscifer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Puscifer<\/a>, he\u2019s long enforced a strict no-filming policy at his shows.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on Clownvis Presley\u2019s Serious Clownversation podcast, Keenan laid out his philosophy behind the policy: \u201cIt\u2019s annoying and it\u2019s distracting and the thing you\u2019re getting on your phone sucks. It\u2019s not a good representation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rather than encourage endless documentation, Keenan wants audiences to be present. \u201cWe just kind of force the issue of engaging with each other \u2014 watching the show \u2014 and just being present. Take a break from it. It\u2019s only three hours.\u201d Fans are permitted to film just one song, the final number, giving them \u201ca souvenir that sucks that you\u2019re never gonna watch,\u201d he explained. At Tool performances, even official livestreams are <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/03\/tool-rare-livestream-lollapalooza-argentina-set\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">limited to wide-angle shots<\/a> to preserve the atmosphere. Fans who violate the policy may face removal from the venue \u2014 or, at a minimum, a public scolding from Keenan himself.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, Keenan will preview\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/07\/puscifer-2026-album-sneak-peek-intimate-los-angeles-performances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Puscifer\u2019s new album<\/a> with a pair of intimate concerts in Los Angeles.
