{"id":595959,"date":"2026-04-20T17:51:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T17:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/595959\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T17:51:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T17:51:07","slug":"gray-leaves-bostons-game-against-tigers-due-to-hamstring-tightness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/595959\/","title":{"rendered":"Gray leaves Boston&#8217;s game against Tigers due to hamstring tightness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apr 20, 2026, 12:39 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>BOSTON &#8212; Red Sox starter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32082\/sonny-gray\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sonny Gray<\/a> left because of right hamstring tightness in the third inning of Monday&#8217;s Patriots&#8217; Day game against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/det\/detroit-tigers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit Tigers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gray had just walked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33804\/gleyber-torres\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gleyber Torres<\/a> when he started bending down, stretching and bending his right leg. Pitching coach Andrew Bailey and catcher Carlos Narv\u00e1ez came out to visit.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, manager Alex Cora and a trainer came out. Gray took a few warmup throws and, after a brief conversation, he walked off the field.<\/p>\n<p>He was replaced by left-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/33638\/danny-coulombe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Danny Coulombe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 36-year-old Gray entered the day 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA.
