Alongside today\u2019s announcement<\/a> that Apple CEO Tim Cook is stepping down, Apple has also elevated Johny Srouji. <\/p>\n

Effective immediately, Srouji is becoming Apple\u2019s chief hardware officer, taking on a broader role overseeing Hardware Engineering. <\/p>\n

In a press release<\/a>, Apple explains that John Ternus most recently oversaw the Hardware Engineering team in his role as Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. Srouji, meanwhile, most recently served as Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies. <\/p>\n

Ternus, of course, is now the incoming Apple CEO<\/a> and set to take over from current CEO Tim Cook on September 1. <\/p>\n

Under this change, Srouji will have an expanded role as Apple\u2019s chief hardware officer, overseeing both hardware engineering and technologies. <\/p>\n

Apple CEO Tim Cook: <\/p>\n

He has played a singular role in driving Apple\u2019s silicon strategy, and his influence has been felt deeply not just inside the company, but across the industry. We are incredibly fortunate to have him as Apple\u2019s chief hardware officer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Incoming Apple CEO John Ternus: <\/p>\n

\u201cJohny has been an incredible partner on the executive team, and is going to be an extraordinary chief hardware officer. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in our new roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Srouji joined Apple in 2008, previously working in processor development and design at both Intel and IBM. <\/p>\n

Finally, Tom Marieb, Apple\u2019s current VP of Product Integrity, will become Apple\u2019s hardware engineering chief. He will report to Ternus. <\/p>\n
