Ted Danson\u2019s early romance with\u00a0Mary Steenburgen\u00a0included a high-stakes moment at the White House.<\/p>\n
Danson, 78, recalled an intense one-on-one with then-President\u00a0Bill Clinton\u00a0that centered around the actor\u2019s \u201cintentions\u201d with Steenburgen \u2014 a close, personal friend of the Clintons.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the first things she did was take me to meet her dear friends in the White House,\u201d Danson recalled while moderating a History Talks panel alongside Bill and Hillary Clinton, according to\u00a0Variety<\/a>. \u201cBill \u2014 Mr. President \u2014 took me around the corner, and there were three Secret Service agents behind him, all of them looking at me. The president asked me what my intentions were.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy first question is to you, Mr. President: Do you think that was fair?\u201d the \u201cCheers\u201d star quipped.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, but it was effective,\u201d Clinton replied. \u201cAnd I didn\u2019t think I had to be fair. As it turned out, you became the best thing that ever happened to her.\u201d<\/p>\n The couple met in 1993 while on the set of the movie \u201cPontiac Moon\u201d and quickly became one of\u00a0Hollywood\u2019s most-loved couples.
