{"id":597949,"date":"2026-04-21T17:17:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T17:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/597949\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:17:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T17:17:08","slug":"iran-wont-confirm-it-will-attend-peace-talks-trump-ready-to-resume-bombing-ahead-of-ceasefire-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/597949\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran won&#8217;t confirm it will attend peace talks; Trump ready to resume bombing ahead of ceasefire deadline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"feedBody\" q:key=\"Il_0\" q:id=\"4a\">Amnesty International Secretary-General Agn\u00e8s Callamard wrote<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/latest\/research\/2026\/04\/secretary-general-reflections-state-of-human-rights-2025-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> reflections for 2025 and this year<\/a> so far, where she accused &#8220;predators&#8221; like Trump, Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin of carrying &#8220;out their conquests for economic and political domination through destruction, suppression and violence on a massive scale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"feedBody\" q:key=\"Il_0\" q:id=\"4d\">Callamard said the world leaders undermined international law, made attacks against the International Criminal Court and abandoned United Nations agencies, replacing &#8220;peace and security mechanisms&#8221; with a new order, or &#8220;self-serving alternatives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"feedBody\" q:key=\"Il_0\" q:id=\"4g\">&#8220;War, not diplomacy, rules: Israel\u2019s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza continues in spite of the so-called ceasefire; Russia\u2019s crimes against humanity in Ukraine escalate; the USA engages in extraterritorial extrajudicial killings and unlawful attacks on Venezuela and Iran, and threats to take over Greenland,&#8221; Callamard said, adding that crimes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar and Sudan remain unchecked and the Middle East has been plunged into chaos again. <\/p>\n<p class=\"feedBody\" q:key=\"Il_0\" q:id=\"4j\">Callamard also said that very few nations stood up to said world leaders and encouraged politicians, diplomats, activists and others to resist during a very challenging moment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"feedBody\" q:key=\"Il_0\" q:id=\"4m\">&#8220;History is not just something that is done\u00a0to\u00a0us. It is also ours to make.
