Denise Richards had a heartbreaking reaction to her ex Patrick Muldoon\u2019s tragic death.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is so hard for me to put into words. I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you,\u201d she wrote Tuesday alongside her emotional Instagram tribute<\/a>, which featured a montage with footage of the pair together over the years.<\/p>\n

Richards, who co-starred with Muldoon in 1997\u2019s \u201cStarship Troopers,\u201d called the late actor her \u201cbest friend\u201d and \u201cfamily,\u201d as she remembered them meeting in acting class when she was 19 and he was 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd here we are. 36 years later. My whole adult life & I don\u2019t know it without you,\u201d Richards continued. \u201cThe friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cRHOBH\u201d alum said Muldoon \u201clit up every room\u201d that he walked into and was \u201clarger than life.\u201d She also called the late \u201cMelrose Place\u201d star the \u201cmost underrated actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything you did was infectious. Your laugh, your kindness, your wit, your strength, your loyalty, your passion, and your zest for life,\u201d Richards went on. \u201cWe\u2019ve been each other\u2019s rock. Our memories together are endless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richards also said that Muldoon \u201calways had [her] back\u201d and was her \u201cvoice of reason and pillar of strength.\u201d Denise Richards\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Richards added that Muldoon always \u201chad [her] back and protected [her] more than anyone,\u201d before admitting that she feels lost without her ex already. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re my voice of reason & pillar of strength. Especially during this last year of pain & heartache,\u201d she said, seemingly referring to her ongoing tumultuous divorce from Aaron Phypers. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now I need you more than ever, for this pain and heartache losing you,\u201d Richards shared. \u201cSchweetbabe we\u2019ve had those conversations. We thought we\u2019d live forever or at least into our 90\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded her post, \u201cSchweetbabe I will be looking for those signs. I need to know you\u2019re still here with me. I love you so much & miss you dearly schweetbabe. \ud83d\udc94\ud83d\ude4f\ud83e\udebd.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muldoon died on Sunday following a sudden heart attack. He was 57 years old.<\/p>\n

His partner, Miriam Rothbart, found him unconscious on the bathroom floor of their Beverly Hills home. He was pronounced dead on the scene after paramedics were called.<\/p>\n

A few weeks before Muldoon\u2019s death, he reunited with Richards<\/a> at the 2026 Saturn Awards in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Richards and Muldoon dated for nearly five years in the late \u201990s. They stayed close until Muldoon\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

The \u201cDays of Our Lives\u201d alum spoke about his close friendship with Richards during\u00a0his appearance on Tori Spelling\u2019s \u201cMisSPELLING\u201d podcast<\/a>\u00a0in October 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both don\u2019t come from entertainment families, and our families got to know each other over the years and kind of checked in with each other on navigating the crazy stuff that we all go through,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Muldoon also noted that he had \u201ca good relationship\u201d with Richards\u2019 kids with Charlie Sheen \u2014 daughters Lola, 20, and Sami, 22 \u2014 even after their breakup.<\/p>\n

Muldoon previously said that Richards (both pictured above at the \u201cDrop Dead Gorgeous\u201d premiere in 1999) became like family to him. WireImage<\/p>\n

Lola\u00a0paid tribute to Muldoon<\/a>\u00a0on Instagram Monday, revealing that she \u201cbegged\u201d her mom to get back together with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought you were the one that was supposed be in our lives forever,\u201d Lola wrote. \u201cWhen i think of my childhood i think of you pat, and it\u2019s gonna be so weird to go on without you in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lola also thanked Muldoon for being her mom\u2019s \u201cbest friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys came as a package and i\u2019m so thankful i got to know you and witness a friendship so pure and special in front of my eyes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
