{"id":599281,"date":"2026-04-22T09:03:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/599281\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:03:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:03:13","slug":"lufthansa-axes-20000-unprofitable-flights-to-save-jet-fuel-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/599281\/","title":{"rendered":"Lufthansa axes 20,000 \u2018unprofitable\u2019 flights to save jet fuel \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The airline said the first 120 flights were canceled on Monday. \u201cThe medium-term route planning for the coming months is being revised considering the capacity reduction and will be published in late April or early May,\u201d Lufthansa said, adding that affected passengers have been notified.<\/p>\n<p>The 20,000 cancellations, which include flights previously operated by CityLine, will impact hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels and Rome and \u201creduce the number of unprofitable short-haul flights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The airline said these \u201cflight schedule optimizations&#8221; will continue.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the announcement, the carrier said the \u201cgroup&#8217;s jet fuel supply [is] secured for the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other airlines have announced similar measures.
