Perhaps that is the best description of the lazy days of summer across financial markets.<\/p>\n<p>Moderation of volatility in equity and bond markets prevailed, along with a general optimism that tech and financial valuations would drag the rest of the market.<\/p>\n<p>That ended <a href=\"https:\/\/realeconomy.rsmus.com\/the-big-chill-hits-the-labor-market-as-job-creation-cools-in-july\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">this past Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions are aligning for a return of financial market volatility for the rest of the year due to the massive revisions to U.S. employment data and broad concerns over the reliability of federal government-produced economic statistics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/realeconomy.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-NEW-MOVE.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-26428 size-mailchimp-images\" src=\"https:\/\/realeconomy.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1-NEW-MOVE-560x350.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"350\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both the VIX index of S&amp;P 500 volatility and the MOVE index of the U.S. Treasury market volatility managed to drop below their long-term, non-recessionary averages in recent weeks.
