The 2026 WNBA season is inching closer, and both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are sharing the headlines.<\/p>\n

Both Clark<\/a> and Reese are preparing for the season for their respective clubs, though in different ways. The Indiana Fever star is looking to have a healthy season, while Reese is attempting to ingratiate herself on a new team after being traded by the Chicago Sky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the two have made waves for two different reasons. It comes after the Fever’s general manager issued an update on Clark’s contract status, <\/a>with her rookie deal soon coming to an end.<\/p>\n

In the 2025 season, Clark played a total of 13 games due to numerous injuries, though she still made her second All-Star team. Spending time on the bench and off the court clearly affected the superstar’s psyche, as she told reporters during media availability during training camp.<\/a><\/p>\n

“Well, I think speaking of last year, like obviously I was in about no reps because I wasn’t playing,” she told reporters Sunday. “So, you know, it’s hard. It’s very isolating to come to practice every single day and spend two hours getting treatment and rehab.”<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the experience of being relegated to the bench, she added, “And, I got to be [her teammates’] biggest fan. And I think that was a great experience for me because through a lot of my career, everybody else was my biggest fan. And that doesn’t mean I wasn’t cheering for my teammates.<\/p>\n

“So, I think I was able to do that and kind of help us and be as involved as I can. And I traveled to every single game but one just because of some rehab things that I was trying to get done to hopefully come back. But, yeah, I think just communicating really more than anything.”<\/p>\n

Angel Reese Makes Her Loyalties Clear<\/p>\n

As she ramps up for the WNBA season, Reese, the Atlanta Dream’s newest star, took time out of her busy schedule to support her partner, Wendell Carter Jr., the Orlando Magic star forward<\/a>. Though the Detroit Pistons were heavily favored to win Game 1 of their playoff matchup against the Magic, the latter stunned the former in the 112-101 win.<\/p>\n

Carter played particularly well, scoring 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field, grabbing seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.<\/p>\n

He outplayed Pistons star Jalen Duren, who Reese was reportedly dating, with the Most Improved Player finalist only mustering eight points and seven rebounds.<\/p>\n

After the win, Reese posted “Play the songggggggggg,” referencing Orlando’s remix of its iconic 1989 theme song that has become a staple after every victory.<\/p>\n

To add fuel to the fire, the Dream star also posted a clip of Carter posterizing Duren. This is just the latest in their relationship, after they had kept it under wraps, though they have made it public in recent months.<\/p>\n

Considering how high-profile both stars are, the Magic star explained the relationship dynamics, sharing: “Before games, after games, we tell each other what we should do night in and night out and not to pay too much attention to the outside noise. We call it the white noise.”<\/p>\n
